JEE(ADVANCE)
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common entrance examination which is conducted for admission in various engineering courses like B.Tech, B.E, B.Arch and B.Planning under the direction of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
In 2012, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has announced this common examination in place of AIEEE and IIT-JEE. JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is being conducted into two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. JEE-Main exam is to admission in National Institutes of Technology, IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute), etc. and JEE-Advance is for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) and the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad. In September 2013, the IIT Council approved the decision of the Joint Admission Board to continue with the two-phase JEE pattern (“Main” followed by “Advanced”) for IITs in 2014.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
It is ‘top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in their boards, category-wise. This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only. In case the percentile score is not available from testing agencies [such as Pre-University exam conducted by a University, two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy, General Certificate Education examination (London/Cambridge/SriLanka), High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University, International Baccalaureate Diploma (Geneva), Senior Secondary School Examination of National Institute of Open Schooling, three year Diploma recognized by AICTE / State Board of Technical Education and any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)], the CBSE score for top 20 percentile of the successful candidates in the student’s category will be used.
For Students who will Give their Class XII Board Exams for First Time :
From 2010, the pattern of AIPMT has been undergoing changes. The examination was replaced by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) but has now been reinstated with major changes such as doing away with the two stage format of the examination.
OBC reservation is being implemented under government directives, but only in central institutes (i.e. not in most of the colleges covered under AIPMT). About 1900 MBBS and approximately 250 dental seats are available through AIPMT, but ranks up to 2500 can reasonably hope for selection due to overlap with other entrances.
For Foreign Nationals:
The eligibility criteria based on the qualifying examination shall be 60% aggregate marks.
For Students whose Qualifying Examination is not in the list given by the IIT council
Students of that type of examination have to provide a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, stating that the diploma/certificate received is equivalent to the 10+2 system of Indian Boards,at the time submitting the application form.
For Students who wish to pursue B.Arch from IIT
All the candidates aspiring for undergraduate courses in IIT (irrespective of any branch) should write Paper-1 of JEE (Main). If selected within the top 1, 50,000 (including all categories), the candidate will be able to write the JEE (Advanced) . Moreover, candidates desirous of joining the B.Arch courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at all zonal IITs .However the seat allotment will be done based on the JEE (Advanced) rank only.
